Off Campus Housing

El Paso is a fairly large city with various locations from the downtown city center to the many suburbs
surrounding the city. If you do not have a vehicle, you may depend on the Sun Metro bus routes that
can be found in the Transportation Around El Paso section below. Finding a property on a bus route will
make it easier for you to get to campus. If you have a vehicle, you may have additional options available
to you. Please remember to verify parking availability around the property you may rent. Additionally,
you will have to purchase a parking permit to park on campus at UTEP.
As you are locating a place to live, you are encouraged to visit the property and neighborhood at various
times of the day and night. This will give you the opportunity to gauge your level of comfort and safety
as things may seem different during the day as opposed to the evening.
Word of mouth is helpful when determining where to live in the El Paso area. Reaching out to other
UTEP students and asking for recommendations will help as you weigh your options about off-campus
living.
