Vision

Computational Science (CPS) is an interdisciplinary program, a synergy of different science and engineering fields, that yields an integrated knowledge-base for effective solutions of complex systems where computing algorithms with predictive modeling plays a fundamental role.

Mission

CPS students will acquire an integrated understanding of scientific processes and the tools required to address the modeling, simulation, and evaluation of such processes. A computational scientist will be able to

• construct mathematical models for science and engineering problems
• design algorithms to solve these problems in one or more research fields 
• select appropriate technology for implementation of the algorithms
• implement efficiently the algorithms and validate the results.
