FINE ARTS FAMILY DAY 

 

 

Fine Art Family Days are opportunities for multi-generational families to engage with contemporary art through a variety of studio workshops, guest lecturers, artists and performers, and gallery tours. All of our educational programming complements the contemporary art exhibitions currently on display at the Rubin Center.

Join us for an Interactive and Engaging Family Day at the Rubin Center for the Visual Arts!

Explore the themes of our current exhibition, Mud + Corn + Stone + Blue, and discover how they connect to our community through a day of creativity and conversation.

Meet local artist Aron Venegas, featured in the exhibition, for a special discussion about his artistic process and inspirations. Then, participate in a hands-on printmaking workshop led by the artist, where you’ll explore the techniques behind his captivating work. More about Aron Venegas Here

Explore hands-on workshops, connect with art, and create memories with your loved ones. All workshops are FREE, bilingual, multigenerational, and open to the public. Children ages 4-12 and their families are highly encouraged to join us!

Uncover the Rich Tapestry of Our Community:

Throughout the day, visitors will explore the powerful themes of Mud + Corn + Stone + Blue, highlighting their relevance to our understanding of the cultural heritage of our borderland, its connection to agriculture, migration, and the profound stories embedded within these elements.

Unleash Your Inner Artist:

We'll be offering two exciting printmaking workshops throughout the day.

  • Screen Printing: Learn the art of screen printing and create your own vibrant posters using a two-color process.
  • Tortilla Press Printing: Embrace a unique technique using linoleum blocks and a tortilla press to create artwork

A Perfect Family Outing:

A hands-on introduction to the history and techniques of printmaking. Whether you're a seasoned art enthusiast or simply looking for a fun and creative family activity, the Rubin Center's Family Day has something for everyone. Light refreshments and snacks will be provided throughout the day, making it a complete and enjoyable experience.
