31.1 Social Media
Social media is a common mean of communication and self-expression among Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é students, faculty and staff. In support of its mission the Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é provides access to information / computing resources for students, faculty and staff as reflected within the Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é’s institutional priorities.
The Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é’sis established in Section X of this Handbook.
31.2 Internet Access and Use
The Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é recognizes the value and potential of information published on the internet and encourages all faculty, staff and students to develop innovative uses of web technologies in pursuit of the Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é’s mission provided they abide with applicable law, rules, regulations, to include Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é’s and UT Systems policies, procedures guidelines, and standards.
31.3 Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é policies and guidelines
The Rules and Regulations governing information/computing policies for the Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é are intended to supplement existing laws and policies. It is imperative that all users of the Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é’s information/computing and information resources realize how much these resources require responsible behavior from all users.
31.3.1 In accordance with the , the Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é’s Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) is charged with the implementation and enforcement of the Information Resources Usage Policy, rules, regulations, guidelines, and standards and shall, among other duties, establish and disseminate procedures and practices to facilitate compliance with applicable rules, policies, and laws;

31.3.3 Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é’s Information Security Office is responsible for publishing, implementation and enforcement of the Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é’s .
31.4 Disciplinary Actions
Violation of the Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é’s Information Resources policies, rules, regulations, guidelines, and standards including yet not limited to those referring to social media use, may result in disciplinary action up to and/or including, loss of UTEP Information Resources access privileges, dismissal, suspension or expulsion, and termination.
