Master of Arts in Education - Diversity, Equity & Social Justice in Education (Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é)
UTEP’s MA (ED) in Diversity, Equity & Social Justice in Education program is a fully online, 30 credit-hour degree designed for individuals who wish to pursue graduate studies focused on educational equity. This program is intended for those seeking to address equity and take on leadership roles in a variety of fields, including education (both formal and informal) and in the non-profit sector (e.g., community-based organizations). It also prepares graduate students who plan to pursue a doctorate in education or the social sciences. This program can be completed in as little as 16 months.
Master of Arts in Education – Linguistic Diversity & Educational Equity (Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é)
UTEP’s MA (ED) in Linguistic Diversity & Educational Equity program is a fully online, 30 credit-hour degree designed for individuals who wish to pursue graduate studies focused on issues of educational equity, particularly related to multilingualism and the advancement of inclusive education for English Language Learners (ELLs)/ Emerging Bilinguals (EBs). This program is intended for those seeking to become advanced English as a Second Language (ESL) practitioners; it prepares teacher-leaders and researchers to critically consider the connections between linguistic diversity and power in various education settings. This program can be completed in as little as 12 months.
Master of Arts in Education - STEM Education (Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é)
UTEP’s MA (ED) in STEM Education program is a fully online, 30-credit-hour degree designed for individuals who wish to pursue graduate studies focused on STEM education. This course of study is intended for those seeking to take on advanced teaching and/or STEM leadership roles in a variety of STEM environments [public and private PK- 12 schools, STEM-focused schools and academies and in informal educational settings (i.e. museums, community-based organizations)]. This program can be completed in as little as 16 months..
Master of Arts in Education with Alternative Teaching Certification (Hybrid)
The College of Education offers a hybrid alternative certification pathway for individuals who have already earned a bachelor’s degree and who are seeking to obtain a master’s degree with initial Texas certification to teach in PK-12 classrooms.
UTEP’s MA (ED) with Alternative Certification Program combines research-based approaches to curriculum planning, classroom management, and effective instruction, intensive coaching and hands-on practice in classrooms with additional graduate study in a chosen concentration– all toward the goal of preparing the highest-quality teachers to successfully serve all students. Students in the program participate in initial intensive preparation comprised of three graduate-level courses, followed by a residency classroom placement that includes tailored coaching and mentorship. This program can be completed in as little as 12 months.
Master of Education - Bilingual Education (Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é/Hybrid)
UTEP’s M.Ed. in Bilingual Education program is a 30-credit hour degree that can be completed fully online or through on-campus coursework. The program is designed for individuals who wish to pursue graduate studies focused on the teaching and learning of English Learners/Emergent Bilinguals. Intended for busy educators (licensed or un-licensed) seeking to become advanced Bilingual Education practitioners, this degree program can be completed in as little as 12 months.
Master of Education - Curriculum and Instruction (Hybrid)
UTEP’s M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction program is a hybrid, 36-credit hour degree designed for individuals who wish to pursue graduate studies focused on the content deemed important for student learning (i.e., curriculum) and the process by which learning is achieved (i.e., instruction). The M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction program has two defined degree concentrations, allowing students to focus on Educational Technology in PK-12 and other educational settings or to earn the graduate credential needed to engage in Dual Credit Teaching (multiple content areas). Additional concentrations under the M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instructions may be devised in consultation with faculty advisors. This degree program can be completed in as little as 20-24 months.
Master of Education - Early Childhood Education (Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é)
UTEP’s M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education program is a fully online, 30-credit hour degree designed for individuals who wish to pursue graduate studies focused on the teaching and learning of young children [Birth to Age 8] in diverse, inclusive early care and educational settings. Intended for busy educators (licensed or un-licensed) seeking to take on instructional leadership roles in the field and to apply theoretical and research knowledge to their teaching practice, this degree program can be completed in as little as 12 months.
Master of Education - Literacy Education (Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é)
UTEP’s M.Ed. in Literacy Education program is a fully online, 36-credit hour degree designed for individuals who wish to pursue graduate studies focused on the teaching and learning of literacy in diverse PK-12 and other educational settings. Intended for busy educators (licensed or un-licensed) seeking to take on instructional leadership roles in Literacy Education and to apply theoretical and research knowledge to their own literacy teaching practice, this degree program can be completed in as little as 20 months.
Note: As part of the program of study, currently certified teachers who qualify may also use the M.Ed. in Literacy Education to obtain Texas Reading Specialist Certification.
Graduate Certificate - K-12 Bilingual Education (Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é)
UTEP’s Graduate Certificate in K-12 Bilingual Education is a 12 credit (4 course) fully online program that can be completed in two semesters. The program provides intensive training for currently certified teachers to prepare them to challenge and obtain Texas/their state’s Bilingual Education supplemental teaching endorsement. All coursework in this graduate certificate may be later applied toward the M.Ed. in Bilingual Education degree.
Graduate Certificate - Dual Language Bilingual Education (Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é)
UTEP’s Graduate Certificate in Dual Language Bilingual Education is a 12 credit (4 course) fully online program that can be completed in two semesters. The program provides intensive training for currently certified teachers to work specifically in dual language bilingual settings; the program also provides the content needed to prepare graduates to challenge and obtain Texas/their state’s Bilingual Education supplemental teaching endorsement. All coursework in this graduate certificate may be later applied toward the M.Ed. in Bilingual Education degree.
Graduate Certificate - K-12 English Language Learning [ESL] (Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é)
UTEP’s Graduate Certificate in K-12 English Language Learning [ESL] is a 12 credit (4 course) fully online program that can be completed in two semesters. The program provides intensive training for currently certified teachers to prepare them to challenge and obtain Texas/their state’s English as a Second Language [ESL] supplemental teaching endorsement. All coursework in this graduate certificate may be later applied toward either the M.Ed. in Bilingual Education or MA in Linguistic Diversity and Educational Equity degrees.
Graduate Certificate - STEM Education (Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é)
UTEP’s Graduate Certificate in STEM is a 15 credit (5 course) fully online program that can be completed in two to three semesters. The program provides teachers and education-related professionals with deep knowledge content in STEM disciplines along with practical approaches to impactful STEM education pedagogy in various educational settings. All coursework in this graduate certificate may be later applied toward the MA in STEM Education degree.
