The programs and curricula initiatives developed are tested at the MAKERSPACE and in classroom settings through collaboration with local districts, schools and teachers. This enables the researchers to assess the value as well as adjust the project focus as needed. For example, one recent project involved hands-on activities where middle school students were involved in learning how to use design software and creating objects using 3-D printers:

The MAKERSPACE continues to seek partnerships with school districts, schools, teachers, individuals and the community in order to develop exciting programs to enhance educators and students’ abilities and interest in Early Childhood Education as well as birth through middle school STEM education. The MAKERSPACE also collaborates with the UTEP College of Engineering and College of Science.
