Learning Communities
Learning communities consist of cohorts of students who are enrolled together in two or more linked courses in a single semester that are team-taught by professors. Learning Communities are classes that offer students an innovative and exciting way to learn through the integration of two courses that focus on a common theme or question.
Students who are interested in building friendships and forming study groups quickly, creating a convenient class schedule, making connections between content in different courses, working closely with faculty, developing teamwork and leadership skills, and increasing their opportunities for academic success, should enroll a learning community.
Some examples of learning communities include:
- UNIV 1301- Students register for UNIV 1301 and one or more linked core course
- Bachelor of Science in Education- Teaching mathematics and teaching science methods courses are frequently offered as learning communities, which are taught on public school campuses
To learn more about whether a learning community is available in your academic program, contact your academic advisor or ask your professors.
