Call for Proposals

The UTEP Edge Symposium seeks proposals from faculty and staff who are passionate about advancing student success through UTEP Edge practices. We invite sessions that highlight innovative approaches, foster collaboration, and showcase resources that enrich the student experience. To align with the symposium’s goals, proposals might include the following types of sessions:
  1. Showcase of Faculty and Staff Champions
    • Proposals that Highlight UTEP Edge Integration: Faculty and staff who are leading efforts to incorporate Edge practices (e.g., teamwork, critical thinking, global awareness) into their courses, syllabi, or programs are encouraged to share insights, successes, and lessons learned.
    • Inspiration and Best Practices: Sessions that inspire others by showcasing effective strategies, case studies, or initiatives that have positively impacted students’ growth and development, both academically and personally.
  2. Best Practices for Integrating Edge Experiences
    • In-Class and Co-Curricular Applications: Proposals focused on integrating Edge practices within academic programs (e.g., course design, assignments, mentorship) or co-curricular settings (e.g., student organizations, leadership programs).
    • Practical Strategies for Student Success: Approaches and methodologies that faculty and staff can apply to promote skill development, enhance engagement, and prepare students for their careers or further education.
  3. Sessions to Foster Collaboration and Networking
    • Cross-Departmental Success Stories: Proposals that highlight collaborative initiatives across departments that support student success, demonstrating how teamwork among faculty, staff, and student services enhances the UTEP Edge mission.
    • Roundtable Discussions or Panels on Collaboration: Sessions designed to foster networking and the exchange of ideas, where faculty and staff can share challenges and solutions related to student engagement and academic support.
  4. Showcasing Student Services and Resources
    • Sessions Focused on Enhancing Faculty and Staff Awareness: Proposals that provide faculty and staff with insights into student support services and ways they can work more effectively with these departments to promote student success.
    • Collaborative Workshop or Q&A Clinics: Sessions where representatives from student services can host Q&A clinics or workshops, allowing faculty and staff to ask specific questions about supporting students through existing resources.
Proposals across these areas will contribute to a rich and engaging symposium, offering attendees practical strategies, collaborative networking, and actionable insights that support UTEP’s commitment to holistic student success.
