Recognizing the benefits of higher education including student engagement in high-impact activities for all students, Dr. Catie McCorry-Andalis has focused on expanding student engagement opportunities for first generation students and re-defining what Student Affairs means to support the needs of today’s students. With more than 30 years of experience in higher education, Dr. McCorry-Andalis has worked in a variety of areas including student support services, leadership development and student activities, enrollment services, housing and residence life, judicial affairs, fellowships and awards and international education.
As Vice President for Student Affairs, Dr. McCorry-Andalis provides leadership and vision in administering a comprehensive portfolio of programs, services, and strategic initiatives that promote student engagement, personal development, student persistence, and student success of all students. The Division of Student Affairs includes the Dean of Students Office, Housing and Residential Life, International Programs and Study Abroad, Student Affairs Marketing and Communications, Recreational Sports, Spirit Operations (cheer, dance and mascot programs), Student Engagement and Leadership Center (student organizations, Greek life, and leadership development programs), Student Government Association, Student Media and Publications, Student Fellowships and Awards, Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é Heights Early Learning Center, Center for Accommodations and Support Services, Counseling and Psychological Services, Military Student Success Center, Office of Community Standards, UTEP CARE, and Union Services.
Dr. McCorry-Andalis is active in the El Paso community and helped establish Homerun for the Homeless, an annual 5k Run/Fun Walk and Kids Dash in partnership with the El Paso Chihuahuas Baseball Team and the Opportunity Center for the Homeless in 2013. She is also involved in several professional organizations including the Texas Association of College and Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é Personnel Administrators (TACUSPA), Association of College and Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é Housing Officers – International (ACUHO-I), and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) where she has served on committees and presented workshops and plenary sessions regionally, nationally and internationally.
Dr. McCorry-Andalis is a proud member of member of Phi Kappa Phi, the Golden Key Honor Society, Leadership El Paso, Class XXXVI on behalf of the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce as well as Leadership Women, Texas - Class of 2018, the longest running program to develop women leaders in the US.

Since arriving at UTEP, McCorry-Andalis, has greatly expanded student support and student engagement opportunities for first generation college students including conducting and publishing research on the social and academic adjustment of students who have participated in an early college high school and transitioned to a four-year institution. Throughout her career, McCorry-Andalis has been active in professional organizations and her local community including helping to establish the annual Home Run for the Homeless 5K run/walk benefiting a local shelter.
A proud UTEP alumna, Aguilar earned her Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration in 2006. Prior to earning her graduate degree, Aguilar completed her bachelor’s degree in elementary education and teaching in 1997. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Education degree at Abilene Christian Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é. Throughout her career, Aguilar has led student success initiatives at institutions like El Paso Community College, Mountain View College in the Dallas County Community College District and Dallas College. Before joining UTEP, she served as the assistant vice president at Tarleton State Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é in Stephenville, Texas, where she advocated on behalf of students and led oversight for programs like the university’s counseling center, health center and food pantry, among others. She has also dedicated her time to serving on committees promoting equity and supportive measures on college campuses and is a member of numerous associations promoting the success of Hispanic students. As a child of immigrant parents, I have a passion for helping underserved populations achieve their educational goals. I understand the concerns and challenges these students face because I was one of them. I believe it is our responsibility as educators to help remove barriers for students and to support and encourage their success in college and their future careers.
Dr. Charlie Gibbens serves UTEP as the Assistant Vice President for Student Support, a role he has held since July 2017. Prior to this, he served as the Executive Director of Residence Life at UTEP from 2004 - 2017. He graduated with an Educational Doctorate degree, Ed.D. from UTEP in 2009. He holds a M.A. in Higher Education Administration from the Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é of Missouri at Kansas City, and a B.A. in Communications from the Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é of Northern Colorado in Greeley, CO. As the AVP for Student Support, Charlie provides oversite to 4 departments that provide direct support to students: Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Center for Accommodations and Support Services (CASS), Consultation Advocacy and Resource Education (CARE), and the Military Student Success Center (MSSC). In addition, he serves as the co-chair for the Behavioral Intervention Threat Assessment team.
Victoria joined UTEP in 2018 as the executive director of Housing and Residence Life. In 2023 she expanded her responsibilities as the assistant vice president of auxiliary services and strategic initiatives. Victoria provides vision and leadership that pursues the division and university strategic priorities and goals by overseeing housing and residence life, recreational sports, union services, and divisional assessment initiatives. Victoria brings knowledge of auxiliary budgets, student impact, crisis management, student and staff development, facilities investment and maintenance, and strategic planning to the division.
Prior to joining UTEP, Victoria served as the interim director of university housing at Northern Kentucky Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é, assistant director of residence life at Miami Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é (OH), and hall director positions at Grand Valley State Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é and the Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é of Wisconsin-LaCrosse. Victoria's academic achievements include a bachelor’s degree in broadcast communication from Western Illinois Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é, master's in higher education leadership from Grand Valley State Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é, and a doctoral degree in higher educational leadership and foundations from the Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é of Texas at El Paso.
Rogelio Chavira joined UTEP in 2009 as the College Administrative Officer for the College of Education, followed by a move to the position of Director of Business and Operations for the Division of Student Affairs. A working professional with an MBA and 40+ years of experience in banking, corporate finance, treasury management and academic business operations. As Director, Rogelio provides operational and budgetary oversight for the Division of Student Affairs while working closely with the leadership team and supporting a collaborative group of student-focused departments.
RElisa Espinosa is a two-time graduate of The Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), holding a Bachelor of Arts in Multidisciplinary Studies and a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration. With a diverse background in Student Activities, Greek Life, and Housing and Residence Life, Elisa brings a wealth of experience to her current role as Director of Assessment and Planning within the Division of Student Affairs.
As Director of Assessment and Planning, Elisa designs and implements assessment strategies that drive data-informed decision-making across the Division of Student Affairs. She also supports campus-wide initiatives, ensuring that all assessment efforts align with the Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é's strategic goals.

Jennifer Green is the inaugural Director of the UTEP Office of Student Fellowships and Award. She arrived at UTEP in 2022 to mentor students pursuing nationally competitive awards like the Fulbright U.S. Student Program, the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program, the Rhodes Scholarship, and more. Jen has over 20 years of experience in higher education administration, particularly in scholar development and international education. She was previously at Stony Brook Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é in Long Island, New York where she oversaw faculty-led study abroad programs before becoming the inaugural Director for Fellowships Advising and Professional Development. Jen is a proud graduate of the Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é of Kansas where she received both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Art History.
Bianca Marquez, an El Paso native, has served as the Director of Spirit Operations at the Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) since 2019 and has been the Head Cheerleading Coach since January 2015. Bianca has dedicated over a decade to coaching, previously serving as the UTEP Assistant Coach from 2005 to 2014.
Her passion for UTEP cheerleading runs deep, having been a student-athlete herself from 1996 to 2001. Coach Marquez is also a five-year National Cheerleaders Association staff veteran.
She is a 2001 UTEP graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and added a Master's of Education from UTEP in 2007. A proud advocate for her athletes’ academic and personal growth, she established a scholarship fund that provides book and academic scholarships for her team members.
She is married to Roman for 19 years, they share two daughters, Tinsley and Paisley.
Charlin Jones-Chavez is a strategic, big-picture thinker with a strong leadership presence and a proven ability to balance complex, multi-faceted projects. Known for her creativity and results-driven approach, Charlin brings a wealth of expertise to event and program planning, particularly in the areas of leadership development and achievement recognition. Charlin is committed to student success and leadership development. Her strong desire to make meaningful impact on student’s experiences is evident in her advising, mentoring, and guiding students to realize their full potential.
With a collaborative spirit, strong attention to detail, and a motivated mindset, Charlin has excelled in her role as Assistant Dean of Students at The Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). Here, she plays a pivotal role in fostering student sense of belonging through engagement opportunities, student leadership development, coordinating large-scale events, and building strong relationships with university leaders to enhance the overall campus experience.
Alyssa Gutierrez joined UTEP in March 2022 serving as the Director of the Center for Accommodations and Support Services under the Division of Student Affairs. Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, she attended the Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é of Texas at El Paso. Alyssa received her Bachelor's of Interdisciplinary Studies in Special Education. She holds a Master of Education in Educational Diagnostician from UTEP. She serves on several committees and co-chairs the ADA Advisory Committee. An educator at heart, I believe in doing everything possible to support students as they work towards their academic goals.
Beatriz Cruz De León is the Director of Student Affairs Marketing and Communications at UTEP, where she leads all marketing efforts for the Division of Student Affairs. With a background in Graphic Design and an MBA from the Woody L. Hunt School of Business at UTEP, she brings extensive experience in UX/UI design, art direction, strategic planning, project management, and branding. She leads a team of creatives dedicated to telling and enhancing the student experience through impactful marketing campaigns across the university.
