I was born and raised in the small city of Nuevo Casas Grandes in Chihuahua, Mexico, and grew up on a farm. Each day my father, mother, and eldest brother worked hard to be able to provide my sister and me with the best possible education. “A pencil is lighter than a shovel” my father used to tell me, and almost every night as a kid, I'd look to the sky and dream about becoming an engineer who might someday be able to help mankind learn more about the universe.
In my senior year of high school, I caught the attention of a UTEP recruiter after winning a national chemistry competition. I had earned a scholarship to study at UTEP, and it is because of that scholarship that my dream is coming true.
I currently have a 4.0 GPA, and after graduation, I hope to attend the California Institute of Technology. My plan is to work in the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, designing the next generation spacecraft that will take man one step closer to the heavens. My dream is possible because of donors like you.
Thank you.
