Absence Processing Times
Absence requests must be submitted and approved in order to be processed. Absences taken and/or approved during the 1 st through the 15 th of each month will be reflected on the upcoming paycheck . Absences taken and/or approved during the 16 th through the end of the month will be reflected on the following paycheck .
- example 1: Employee calls in sick for December 5th. Request is made upon return, December 6th. Request is approved by supervisor December 6th. 8hrs sick leave will be reflected on January 1st check.
- example 2: Employee calls in sick for December 15th. Request is made upon return, December 18th. Request is approved by supervisor December 19th. 8hrs sick leave will be reflected on February 1st check.
Absence Information
Once a leave request has been approved or its more than 90 days, it can only be modified/entered by Absence Management. Approving supervisor needs to email abm@utep.edu to request approval or modification.
As a best practice, we recommend employees discuss an absence request with their immediate supervisor, prior to being submitted electronically on PeopleSoft. The request can then be submitted upon returning from leave.
