Post Graduate’s Nurse Practitioner Certificates
The College of Nursing offers a post-masters Nurse Practitioner (NP) certificate for nurses holding a master in nursing degree in a different nursing specialty. The specialty concentrations offered are Adult Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner with Primary Care Focus, Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.
The total semester credit hours for the specific NP concentration ranges from 28 to 40 credits. Clinical practicum times vary from 630-775 clock hours based on the concentration and the student’s acquisition of competencies essential to practice.
Admission Criteria for Post-Masters in Nursing NP Certificates
Applicants with a Masters in Nursing with Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Recognition
- Proof of a current unencumbered license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Nurse Specialist, and/or Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.
- Evidence of an earned Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited College or Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é in the United States or equivalent education at a foreign institution.
- Current resume or curriculum vita.
- Statement of Nursing Professional Purpose: Should include your professional goals demonstrating your fit with the specific major/concentration you are applying for. Highlight your unique nursing abilities, experience, and knowledge. Format includes your complete legal name, 500 words or less, in Microsoft Word, 1 inch margins, 1.5 or double spaced, and 11 point Arial font.

Applicants with a Masters in Nursing without Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Recognition
- Proof of a current unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Evidence of an earned Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited College or Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é in the United States or equivalent education at a foreign institution.
- Current resume or curriculum vita.
