Our Chair's Welcome
Greetings from the Department Chair
¡Bienvenidos!
Hello and Welcome to the UTEP Department of Theatre and Dance.
We are an outstanding group of artists, scholars and mentors who are here to educate and train the future leaders in theatre and dance. Our award winning and internationally regarded faculty are here to help and mentor with a student-centered approach to achieve your goals and career path.
We offer exceptional undergraduate programs in Acting, Tech & Design, Stage Management, Musical Theatre, Dance and Education. Students can expect a well-rounded education in these areas. We also understand and embrace that all students are different in their personality, culture, and learning styles. Our curriculum and degree plan allows flexibility with large pool of electives to tailor to the students’ educational needs. Our alumni have utilized this unique training and have gone on to reputable graduate programs or have built successful careers in the industry.
As theatre and dance artists, we are story tellers. We recognize the importance of serving the community of El Paso del Norte region. Our work and scholarly research focuses on ED&I (Equity, Diversity and Inclusion), to be at the front line to lead the social justice and social change for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) and LGBTQIA+ community of El Paso and beyond by applying the power of theatre and dance with the magic of storytelling as a platform.
Population of 2.5 million combining El Paso with our neighbor city, Ciudad Juarez, provides a rich Hispanic tradition and culture that makes this wonderful and unique region unlike anywhere else in the world. El Paso is known to be one of the safest cities in the country and affordable tuition cost makes UTEP (R1 Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é) a desirable choice for your training and education.
I invite you to browse through our website and if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
