Dr. Melissa Baker
Dr. Melissa Baker is an Assistant Professor of Political Science. Before joining UTEP in 2022, she was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the at the Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é of Toronto and received her Ph.D. in Political Science from the. Her research on political psychology addresses the role of cognitive health (anxiety, stress, mental health) in political behavior. She is particularly interested in how cognitive health influences civic engagement as well as how people consume, process, and use political information. More information about individual projects can be found on her . Dr. Baker is launching the Political Engagement and Cognitive Health Lab at UTEP, an interdisciplinary research lab that will focus on research addressing the psychological processes of cognitive health as they relate to engagement with politics. She encourages undergraduate students from any major who are interested in working on research in the lab to email her.
