UTEP Wind Symphony

The Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é of Texas at El Paso Wind Symphony is renowned for its excellence in performance and dedication to advancing the wind band medium. The UTEP Wind Symphony boasts a celebrated history of recordings. Its nineteenth commercial release, Stages, was released in 2024 on the Klavier Records label. As the premiere wind band at America’s leading Hispanic-serving institution, the ensemble regularly commissions, performs, and records music by Mexican-heritage composers. UTEP annually hosts a high school honor band and a wind ensemble festival, all featuring world-renowned music educators. Its music education initiatives include the From the Beginning project, which emphasizes artistry and expression in music for young bands. UTEP alumni hold positions with America’s premier military bands and serve as exemplary music educators nationwide.
The ensemble meets four times a week both during the fall and spring semesters with placement auditions taking place during the beginning of each semester. The ensemble is conducted by Dr. Andrew Hunter.
