Patricia Ravelo, Ph.D
Dr. Ravelo is a native of Mexico City. She is a Professor for the Center for Research Social Anthropology (CIESAS) in Mexico City and is a visiting Professor for the Chicano Studies at The Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é of Texas at El Paso( UTEP). Ravelo has a BA in Sociology from The National Autonomous Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é of Mexico in Sociology, a graduate certificate in Women Studies from Colegio de Mexico, and several seminars and workshops in the social sciences and women studies. She has also coauthored a book on Gender and Health Research in Mexico, authored several chapters in books and multiple articles on the health of maquilador women in Chihuahua, sexual violence in Chihuahua, textile labor issues and women, among others. Ravelo has also participated in several conferences and professional meetings in Latin America and the U.S.
Current Position: Visiting professor from the Centro de Investigaciones y Estudios Superiores and Antropología Social (CIESAS).
Education: Doctorado, UNAM, Sociología, Division de Estudios de Posgrado, Facultad de Ciencias Políticas y Sociales.
Currently working on an investigation titled "Protesta Social y Acciones Colectivas Contra la Violencia Sexual y de Género en la Frontera Cd. Juárez, Chih. - El Paso, TX." In 2005, she released the documentary "La Batalla de Las Cruces: Protesta social y acciones colectivas en torno de la violencia sexual en Ciudad Juárez", which was produced by CIESAS and Campo Imaginario, with support from Chicano Studies, UTEP and Conacyt.
