Equipment Checkout

Many classes now require the use of a laptop in the classroom for various assignments. For this reason, laptops and other devices have been made available to students for check out from the Technology Support Center in the UTEP library. Until recently, most items have only been available for up to a 3 day checkout. Since the demand for laptop use on assignments has only been increasing, the Equipment Checkout Center has now made long-term checkouts available for a limited number of laptops or Internet hot-spots. Students can fill out an application online to apply for a long-term checkout on the Technology Support Center website (links below). Equipment Checkout is located in the Technology Support Center, on the 3rd floor of the UTEP Library.

CampusEdge: Workshops & Professional Development

Campus Edge is a new platform for UTEP students, faculty, and staff to post and receive information about workshops and professional development sessions across campus. The sole purpose of the website is to promote professional development beyond the classroom. It also serves as a unified website for all of the different departments and areas of UTEP. While the HR team may post training sessions for faculty and staff only, other areas like the Library, can post workshops available for students as well. Submissions from Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é colleges, departments and official student organizations are also welcome.

Research Computing

Research projects that require large amounts of data to be stored and processed can look to a few resources available here on campus. The High-Performance Cluster (HPC) is the leading research computing facility here on campus. Located inside the Research and Academic Data Center, the HPC works like a series of servers linked together to enhance computing capabilities. The data center is equipped with monitored cooling infrastructure, scalable and uninterrupted power supply, temperature, humidity, fire and smoke monitoring as well as an automatic CO2 based fire protection system, controlled access and emergency shutdown systems. The research team is available to help faculty find the right solution for their individual research needs.
