Overview

If you suspect a system is compromised, believe an intrusion has occurred, or believe sensitive information has been placed at risk, please contact the Information Security Office as soon as possible at 747-6324 or email us at security@utep.edu . In order to expedite the investigation please provide as many details about an incident as possible. If you suspect a crime is being committed, please contact the UTEP Police Department at 915-747-5611.

If criminal activity is detected, the Information Security Team will contact the appropriate law enforcement offices.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. I think my computer has been hacked, what do I do?
A: Contact the Information Security Office as soon as possible at 747-6324 or at security@utep.edu . Be prepared with information - such as when you believe an intrusion occurred, why you think your computer may be compromised, and whether you noticed any new problems with your computer.


Q. My firewall logs show that I’m being attacked, what can I do?
A: Send an email to security@utep.edu with your IP address, the IP address of the computer that is attacking you, and a copy of your firewall log.
