A subset of classrooms is upgraded with the standard AV design annually by Technology Support’s Learning Environments team.
The upgrades consist of the following:
• A new laser video projector.
• Connectivity for up to six high-definition audio-video devices.
• A touchscreen control panel.
• Small form factor desktop PC.
• Classroom speakers*.
• 27-inch LCD monitor with built-in webcam.
• Windows wireless projection device.
• Apple wireless projection device.
• HDMI or USB-C connector on the instructor’s podium.
• Accessible power outlets on the instructor’s podium.
• Lapel and throwable mic system for classrooms with a seventy-plus seating capacity.
• The new projector, control system, and desktop are added to our central monitoring system.*Applies solely in instances where speakers are non-functional or absent.
This standard AV design allows for a wide range of basic teaching and learning styles and needs; as well as allows for basic Zoom or Teams meetings, and basic lecture capture utilizing the monitor’s webcam, and the desktop computer via Zoom/Yuja integration. In larger classrooms, the throwable mic allows for more dynamic student engagement, discussion, and feedback with a mic that is tossed around to students for participation.

Suppose a classroom needs additional technology or equipment other than what is already included with the standard AV design. In that case, you may use the link below to submit a formal request where you will be asked for a description of your teaching and learning practices in the classroom that justify the need for the additional technology. These requests for technology above the standard AV will be submitted for review by the campus oversight committee for approval and funding.
