The Research and Academic Data Center (RADC) is located on the 3rd floor of the Engineering complex between the Classroom building and the Engineering building. It is available to all faculty and academic departments that require high-quality facilities and services for research and academic computing.
• Server rack space (servers must be rack-mountable)
• One network port
• UPS backup power
• Cooling and environmental monitoring
• Physical security - access to authorized personnel only
• Admin rights are retained by the departmental owner
• Operating system maintenance and administration (optional)
• System monitoring (optional)
• Data backup (optional)
To request a consultation regarding the addition of a server or servers to the RADC, enter a service request with our Help Desk. If possible, have available the type of data to be stored, the operating system required, storage or server space needed, and names of those who will need access.
There is no installation or ongoing fee for equipment housed in the RADC. There may be a one-time initial installation charge for some equipment. These charges include:
• Standard 110V power (220V is $250 per circuit)
• No charge for 1st network port. Additional ports are $150/port (subject to availability)
• No charge for rack or Rackspace. Organizations may purchase a dedicated rack for their equipment
• No charge for rack or Rackspace. Organizations may purchase a dedicated rack for their equipment. Dedicated racks are subject to floor space availability and standardization of equipment
Note: Some of these installation services are contracted out, therefore the quoted prices are estimates.

Only authorized technical staff have access to the RADC. All equipment housed in the RADC becomes part of the utep.edu domain.
