Confirmation of Financial Resources (CFR)
The figures on this page are an estimate of how much it may cost to attend UTEP for one academic year and should not be used to determine actual costs or used for any other purpose other than for OIP to issue Form I-20/DS-2019. All documents submitted to OIP will only be used to show availability of funds; students will not make any payments to OIP.

Financial Documentation Requirements
Newly Admitted and Transfer Students
Submit a copy of your UTEP Admission Letter.
Returning Students
If you have been away from UTEP, submit either:
- Eligibility of Enrollment document, or
- Admission Letter.
Financial Documentation for All Students
All students must submit the Confirmation of Financial Resources (CFR) via the Admission Checklist in the Sunapsis portal. You will need these same documents during your visa interview (F-1 or J-1 visa).
Proof of Funding
Use any of the following documents when providing proof of funding:
- TA/RA Assistantship letter
- Scholarship/awards letter
- Financial statements or bank letters showing liquid funding only
Family or Sponsor Support
If financial support is coming from family members or sponsors, they must submit a notarized Sponsor Certification Form.

Additional Requirements for Financial Statements:
- Must be dated within 3 months of submitting the CFR
- Show the name of the account holder, account type, balance, and date of issue
- Funds must be liquid and available for immediate withdrawal
