F-1 Application Process
All international students who require an F-1 student visa to study in the U.S. must first obtain Form I-20 (Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status). The I-20 document is required when applying for an F-1 student visa.
- For students who already have an F-1 visa, the I-20 is required in order to begin classes at UTEP.
- International students in the U.S., except for B-1/B-2 status, may be able to study without obtaining a student visa. Contact the OIP to confirm this. For more information, visit Who Can Study?.
At UTEP, obtaining an I-20 documents is initiated by accessing the Sunapsis Student Portal (instructions are given below).
