Monday, November 20, 2023
Dear UTEP College of Science Students, Colleagues and Alums,
Welcome back to the College of Science newsletter!
We're delighted to share the successes of the recent semester, marked by impactful research, engaging campus events, and noteworthy student achievements. It was heartening to witness the active participation of students and alumni in our 2023 Homecoming events last month.
As part of our cherished annual tradition, we took a moment to honor Rudy Piña with the College of Science Gold Nugget Award. Rudy has served as the president of Dynatec Scientific Labs, been a valuable member of our advisory board and has demonstrated unwavering commitment by giving back to our students through the establishment of the Rudy Piña Endowed Fund for Microbiology at UTEP. His dedication serves as a shining example of the positive influence our alumni can have on both the community and future generations of scientists.
Looking ahead, we are excited to announce our involvement in the El Paso Science Festival scheduled for April 6-7, 2024 at the El Paso Convention Center. This event promises a dynamic showcase of exhibits, demonstrations, and lectures tailored for K-12 students. Our belief in the power of hands-on activities and inspiring presentations is aimed at revealing the potential of science to young minds, with the hope of inspiring future Miners!
