Graduate Placement
The terminal degree Masters program in Philosophy with a concentration in ethics and science studies began in the fall 2008. The department actively assists graduates of the program in their search for employment or further education. Some of our graduates have elected to pursue a Ph.D. in philosophy, while other graduates have gone on to use the skills in a variety of academic and non-academic professions.
Some students who have received a B.A. in Philosophy from UTEP have been admitted to graduate programs in Philosophy at Columbia Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é, George Mason Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é, Purdue Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é, the Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é of Hawaii at Manoa, Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é of Miami, Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é of Nebraska, Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é of New Mexico, Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é of Texas at Austin, and the Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é of Wyoming.
Outside of philosophy, undergraduates have matriculated to California State Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é at Sacramento (M.A. in English), Gaullaudet Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é (M.A. in Hearing Impaired Studies), St. Mary's Seminary (Houston, TX), the Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é of California, Irvine (Ph.D. in Latin American Literature / Critical Theory), Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é of Texas at El Paso (Ph.D. in History), and Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é of Texas at Austin (M.A. in Social Work).
Graduates have also been admitted to Rutgers Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é Law School, Temple Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é Law School, Texas Tech Law School, Texas Wesleyan Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é Law School, Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é of Minnesota Law School, and Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é of Texas at Austin Law School.
