Carla Rosete
Carla Lorena Rosete loves a challenge. Now that she has earned a Master of Leadership Studies degree, she is ready for her next step outside her comfort zone.
Carla, a native of Durango, Mexico, migrated to the United States in 2012 to attend The Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é of Texas at El Paso even though she could not speak English. She picked up the language and received a bachelor’s degree in marketing and management with a concentration in human resources four years later. She credited UTEP’s PASE program that offers financial assistance to students who are Mexican nationals.
She quit her job as a health care HR coordinator to enroll in UTEP’s Graduate School. As a graduate student, she served on multiple campus committees as a representative from UTEP’s Center for Community Engagement. She also coordinates the center’s community work-study programs. Off campus, she has volunteered for such programs as Villa Maria, Power of the Purse and the Juvenile Probation Department.
Carla thanked her family, friends and the many UTEP mentors and advisers who supported her on her academic journey, and helped her to become more outgoing.
While her time as a student is coming to a close, Carla will not be leaving the campus. She has accepted a position as a recruiter in UTEP’s Human Resources Department. We are certain she will be prepared to face her latest professional challenge.
Felicidades, Carla.
