Shayla Salais
Adjunct Instructor
Shayla Salais is an online Adjunct instructor in the department of Criminal Justice at the Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). She earned her Master’s of Science in Criminology and Criminal Justice from UTEP in 2022 and her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal justice from UTEP in 2019. Currently she is working at an emergency shelter for unaccompanied immigrant children where she advocates for their wellbeing before and after finding a permanent placement for them in the U.S. while they wait to be seen by an immigration judge. Prior to this, she worked as a research assistant at UTEP. Her research interests include immigration and crime, sexual victimization, and child victimization.
