Matthew Duran
Adjunct Instructor
Matthew J. Durán, M.S., is an adjunct instructor in the Department of Criminal Justice and Security Studies at the Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). Matthew obtained his bachelor’s and master’s degree from UTEP and is now working towards his Ph.D. in criminology and criminal justice at Arizona State Ãå±±ÂÖ¼é. His current research focuses on policing and gangs in the United States, Central America, and Caribbean. Prior to pursuing a career in higher education, Matthew was employed with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office as a detention officer, and then recently as a crime analyst with the El Paso Police Department.
