Upcoming Courses

Fostering a Culture of Belonging Microcredential
(8-week program)

This is a 4-module microcredential focused on fostering a culture of care.

Topics include:

Developing students’ sense of belonging
Gaining more understanding in recognizing and responding to:
- Implicit bias
- Microaggressions
- Inclusive environments
- Imposter syndrome

Timeline : Courses are organized during an 8-week period during the Spring semester. See current calendar.

Format : These are self-paced^*, online modules. Participants are selected as a cohort, and participate in virtual group discussions, and 2 in-person sessions on campus to support collective and collaborative learning.

*A recommended completion timeline is provided; modules are made available progressively.

Participation requirements:

Commitment to complete all modules within the project timeline
Support from program/department chair
Active teaching duties (tenured, tenure-track, non-tenured welcome)
Staff in student facing roles (Advising, Admissions, HR, etc.)
Participation in (2) in-person sessions facilitated on campus

Time commitment:

Each module requires a total of approximately 2 hours per week to complete. In-person sessions are typically an hour.

Application: Deadline February 9

Apply for the Spring 2024 ACUE Course on Fostering a Culture of Belonging cohort:

Interest in the program (200 max)
History of participation in other social engagement and management programs.
Indication and acknowledgment of support from program/department Chair

Application does not guarantee selection. Selected participants will be notified by February 12.

Effective Teaching Practices Credential
(28-week program)

This is a 25-module credential focused on teaching practices for face-to-face instruction.

This is a comprehensive program organized around five units of study:

Establishing productive learning environments
Using active learning techniques
Promoting and facilitating higher order thinking, and
Assessing ways that inform instruction and
Promoting deeper levels of learning.

Timeline : Courses begin in the Fall and conclude in April of the same academic year.

Format : These are self-paced*, online modules. Participants are selected as a cohort and participate in virtual group discussions and 3-4 in-person sessions on campus to support collective and collaborative learning.

Commitment to completing all modules within the project timeline
Support from program/department chair
Be an active faculty member with teaching responsibilities (tenured, tenure-track, non-tenured welcome)
Participation in (3-4) in-person sessions facilitated on campus

Each module requires a total of approximately 2 hours per week to complete
In-person sessions are typically an hour

Application:

Application process happens in July.
Application does not guarantee selection.

Apply for the 2024-2025 ACUE Course in Effective Teaching Practices cohort:

Interest in the program (500 max)
History of participation in other teaching preparation programs or workshops
Indication and acknowledgment of support from program/department Chair
